Francis W. 'Frank' Mayer

YORK – Francis W. “Frank” Mayer, 70, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 at York Hospital. He was the husband of D. Joy Lehr to whom he was married for 12 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. A visitation will be held from 3-4:00 PM Saturday at the Funeral Chapel. Born June 15, 1944 in North York, formerly Mayersville; he was the son of the late Arthur and Ellen (King) Mayer, he was a 1963 graduate of Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, VA. Frank spent many years in the car dealership industry serving as Finance Manager at Stetler Dodge and later General Manager at Elizabethtown Ford. He retired as General Manager of GIMCO Industrial Painting. Frank was an avid hunter as a young man, Endowment Life Member of NRA, and loved spending time at his cabin on Jack’s Mountain near Orbisonia. He belonged to several social clubs and enjoyed going to NASCAR races. In addition to his wife, Mr. Mayer is survived by four sons, John and wife Kate Hawkins and Scott and wife Deb Mayer both of Sarasota, FL, Mark and wife Angela Mayer of Frederick, MD, Ryan and wife Dr. Julie Lehr of Lancaster; one daughter, Allison and husband Bob Wengert of Winter Garden, FL; 13 grandchildren, Ashley, Clark, Hillary, Jordan, Madison, Jameson, Grace, Mollie, Jake, Cameron, Johanna, Maddox, and Makenzie; a sister in law, Doris King of Red Lion; and his beloved Beagle Shih Tzu, Mollie. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne King. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to York Cancer Patient Help Fund, 25 Monument Rd., Suite 194, York, PA 17403.
