Francis R. Frank" Horn

YORK-Francis "Frank" R. Horn, 85, died Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Manor Care-North. He was the loving husband of Suzanne M. (Genin) Horn to whom he was married for 63 years on March 2. A celebration of life service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., with his pastor, the Rev. Daniel V. Biles, III officiating. A viewing will be held 1-2:00 p.m, Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with full military rites provided for by the York County Veteran's Honor Guard. Mr. Horn was born November 15, 1923 a son of the late William and Sadie (Lease) Horn. He was employed by York City School District for over 25 years until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Horn was a WWII Army Veteran. During active duty, he met his beloved wife in Suippes, France in March of 1945. Over the years Frank and Suzanne would return to France 17 times to visit their family. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. He was also a member of the Viking Club, VFW, and Rose Sunshine Club, all of York. Frank enjoyed watching old game shows and playing word find in his spare time. In addition to his wife, Mr. Horn leaves behind a son Robert C. Horn; a daughter, Francine H. Throne and husband, Richard; two grandchildren, Andrew C. Throne and wife, Shannon, and Allison S. Altland and husband, Jeremiah; two great grandchildren, Corey S. Throne, and Haydn G. Altland; and a half sister, Beatrice Bupp , all of York. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Spring Grove, American Heart Association, or American Diabetes Association.
