Red Lion—Francis C. Smallbrook Jr, 81, died, Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital. He was the husband of Shirley A. Smallbrook, to whom he was married for 16 years. A celebration of life service will be 1 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2010 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 121 W. Broadway, Red Lion, with his pastor, the Rev. James E. VanZandt, officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements. Born November 10, 1928 in Freysville, he was a son of the late Francis C. Smallbrook Sr, and Sadie E. (Smith) Smallbrook. He was employed as an Electrician for over 40 years, first with Calvin Paff and later with David E. Smith Electrical Contractors, where he retired from in 1993. A member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Red Lion, he was also a member of the Benevolent Order of Elks-Red Lion Lodge and the Victory Athletic Association. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, going to hunting camp, football and NASCAR. In addition to his wife, Mr. Smallbrook is also survived by one son, Scott K. Smallbrook of Upperco, MD, one daughter, Marsha G. Irvin of Mechanicsburg, three step-sons, Michael S., David A. and Timothy W. Zelger, all of Red Lion, 5 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, one sister, Lois Heyne of York, and 2 nephews.
