Frances Zaharis

POTTSVILLE- Frances Zaharis, 87, of Pottsville, passed away Friday at home. Born in Shenandoah on October 29, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Clara Vlahopolous Logothides. She was a member of Saint Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Reading. Frances loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing cards and solving puzzles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas P. Zaharis, who passed away May 29, 2009; her great granddaughter, Mia Zaharis; her sisters, Mary Vernalis, Irene Athans and Alice Krenciewicz. Frances is survived by her son, William P. Zaharis, husband of Patricia, of Pottsville; her daughter, Nikki Kosmos, of Ottowa, Canada; her 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Andruchek, wife of John P., Markus Kosmos, William T. Zaharis, husband of Jackie, Nicole M. Ianni, wife of Nando and Kristin Zaharis; her 6 great grandchildren, Skylar, Connor, Zachary, Ryan, Niko and Parker; her sister, Helen Muntone, of Orwigsburg; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning, January 30, at 11:00 A.M. at Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & West market Streets, Pottsville. Family and friends may call on Monday morning from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Entombment will be held at the convenience of the family in Charles Baber Cemetery Columbarium.
