Frances Lucille 'Yaya' (Whipp) Christas

SHREWSBURY - Frances Lucille “Ya-Ya” (Whipp) Christas, 77, formerly of Shrewsbury, died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. She was the wife of the late James Christas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at noon on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Grace Church of Shrewsbury, 473 Plank Road in New Freedom, with a visitation from 11 a.m.-noon. There will be a luncheon immediately following the service. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Christas was born in Bloomington, WV on November 22, 1935, the daughter of the late Charles M. “Bud” Whipp and the late Nellie (Snyder) Whipp Guynn. Mrs. Christas was a member of Grace Church of Shrewsbury in New Freedom and the New Freedom Senior Center. Mrs. Christas leaves a daughter, Mare` Parker and her life partner Jeffrey Parker of Dallastown; a son, George Christas and his wife Karen of Seven Valleys; five grandchildren, James Pierce, Stacey Scott, Carrie Pierce, George Christas, Jr., and Raymond Christas; and a sister, Joy Smith of Keyster, WV. Four sisters and two brothers had preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to H.O.P.E. Foundation, P.O. Box 175, Shrewsbury, PA 17361
