Frances J. Thatcher

YORK – Frances J. (Page) Thatcher, 80, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023 at York Hospital with her husband of 23 years, Tom, by her side. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ted Thatcher.

Born September 9, 1942 in Chicago, IL; a daughter of the late John F. and Ellen (Smith) Page; her family returned to Mechanicsburg where she spent her early through high school years. Fran was a 1960 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and then earned advanced degrees from Ohio Wesleyan University and Shippensburg University. She enjoyed a long career in teaching in the Harrisburg School District and counseling at Holy Spirit Hospital. Fran had many friends and enjoyed traveling. Cape May, NJ and Saratoga, NY were amongst her favorite destinations. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Thatcher was a devoted mother, grandmother “Nanny” and animal lover. She is survived by her sons, Todd Thatcher and his wife Cindy of CA and Chris Thatcher and her husband Tom of York; two brothers, Jon Page and his wife Pat of FL and Gordon Page of Selinsgrove; three grandchildren, Paige Thatcher of Philadelphia, Colin Thatcher and wife Lexie of CO, and Ethan Thatcher of Philadelphia.

Tribute services will be held privately. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 947 N. George Street, York, PA 17404.
