Frances J. (Coulson) Palko

POTTSVILLE - Frances J. Palko, 83 , of Pottsville, died Wednesday morning at the Schuylkill Medical Center, East Norwegian St., Pottsville. Born in Pottsville on August 23, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Helen Gable Coulson. Frances was a graduate of Pottsville High School. She was a member of St. Patrick's, Pottsville. She was married for 55 years to the late John J. Palko, who died October 30, 2007. Frances was formerly employed as a Bell Telephone Operator, then worked for the Ansatel Answering Service, and retired from the Good Samaritan Hospital, as a switchboard operator. During high school, Frances worked at the W.T. Grant store and also the Homemade Ice Cream Shop. Frances was a member of the Good Samaritan Retirees Club. She was affectionately known as "Teeny" by her family and friends. She enjoyed family events and loved all her grandchildren's events. Surviving Frances are: s son, John J. and his wife Linda Palko, Mt. Pleasant , N.C.; two daughters, Dr. Michele M. and her husband Andrew Tellep, MarLin, and Suzanne P. and her husband Frank McGuire, Lake Ariel, PA, seven grandchildren, John McGuire, Jordan McGuire, Michael Tellep, Justin Palko, Hannah Palko, Rachel Palko and Joseph Palko; three brothers, James Coulson, Joseph Coulson, and William Coulson, all of Pottsville; two sisters, June Moran and Betty Uranko, both of Pottsville; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 21, at 10 AM from the Church of Saint Patrick. Family and friends may call at the church from 9 AM until time of service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. The Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville is handling the arrangements.
