Frances E. (Legg) Peterson

DOVER- Frances E. "Frani" (Legg) Peterson, 61, drifted peacefully into heaven on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at her home. She was the wife of Jeffery A. Peterson to whom she was with since 1987 and wed on June 11, 2000.

Born on December 4, 1962 in Wilmington, DE she was a daughter of Donald T. Legg, Sr. of Wilmington, DE and the late Mabel Craig-Legg. She was a 1980 graduate of William Penn High School in New Castle, Delaware. She earned her dental assistant degree and worked in dentistry for many years before switching careers. Frani then was a LIU School Bus Driver for over 20 years and loved all of her students.

Along with her husband, Jeffery, Frani is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Bartram and her husband, Scott of Dover; son, David Vitatoe and his wife, Jessica of Dover; seven grandchildren, Tobi White, Austin Shirey, Brayden Blanco, Abbi Shirey, Jocelyn Vitatoe, Allyana Bartram and Maddelyn Bartram; two great grandchildren, Bryson and Delainey White; sister, Donna Wilkes of Piedmont, SC; brother, Donny Legg of Dover; and many nieces and nephews.

Frani carried a great deal of love for her family and loved to take and look at all her pictures of her children and grandchildren. She had a love for plants and gardening, putting puzzles together and taking care of others. Her favorite saying was “love and be loved”, something we all should remember her by.

A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Certified Celebrant Amy Favorito officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. The service will be livestreamed at HeffnerCare.com around 11 a.m. by searching Frani's obituary page. Burial will be in Shiloh Union Cemetery.
