Frances E. (Hevner) Shady

PALMYRA - Frances E. (Hevner) Shady, 79, a former Lock Haven resident, died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at The Pathway Center for Grief and Loss, Mount Joy She was born on December 18, 1933 in Beech Creek, Clinton County and was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Anderson) Hevner. Frances married the late Vaughn J. Shady, Sr. on July 18, 1959 and they celebrated 45 years of marriage together until his death on September 23, 2004. She worked for Lock Haven University for 20 years and retired as a custodian. Frances enjoyed bingo and playing cards. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Vaughn J. and Stephanie Shady Jr. of Beaufort, NC, two daughters and sons-in-law; Vonda J. and John Barton of Palmyra and Vanessa J. and Sam Hall of Smithville WV, four grandchildren; Christa Barton Witman and her husband Zach, Mason Shady, Sammy Hall and Freddy Hall, one great grandson; Blake Witman, one brother; Don Hevner of Addison, NY, four sisters and two brothers-in-law; Nancy and Ken Dickey of Mill Hall, Shirley and Bill Rishel of Castanea, Gertrude Masden of Richmond, VA and Ruth Herlocher of Addison, NY, two sisters-in-law; Hazel Shady of Beech Creek and Mary Hevner of Blanchard. In addition to her parents and husband, Frances was preceded in death by one brother; Tom Hevner, six sisters; Helen Bowman, Martha Bowman, Alice Butler, Ruby Morton, Margaret Young and Mariam Hanley. A public viewing will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall, followed by the funeral at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor Janis Heiser officiating. Burial will take place in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven at a later date at the convenience of the family.
