Frances E. Crerand

WEST YORK - Frances E. (Graff) Crerand, 96, of West York died at 8:43 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at The Pappus House in Spry. She was the wife of the late Robert J. Crerand whom she married on May 23, 1942. A private family graveside service will be held at Mt. Rose Cemetery with her pastor, the Reverend Darcy Reis officiating. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. Born February 2, 1922 in York, Frances was the daughter of the late Ralph C. and Geraldine E. (Garvick) Graff. She graduated from William Penn Senior High School with the Class of 1938 at the age of 16, and later graduated from the Prowell Business School. She was a stay-at-home Mom until 1978 when she accepted the position as secretary with Heffner Funeral Home of York and continued in that capacity until her retirement in 2014. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, West York. She leave her two daughters, Deborah Ann Starner of York, Stephanie Jane “Sally” Hoffman and husband, Earl B., Jr. of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Jeff Starner and wife, Missy, Jennifer Shorts and husband, Gene, Todd Hoffman and Ryan Hoffman; four great grandchildren, Landon and Alexa Shorts and Bryce and Chad Starner; and a sister, Dorothea J. Zimmerman of Henderson, NV. She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Graff and a son-in-law, Bill Starner.
