Florence Ventresca

POTTSVILLE - Florence "Flossy" Ventresca, 84, resident of Seton Manor, Orwigsburg, formerly of Pottsville, passed away Monday at Seton Manor. Born in Pottsville on January 4, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Laura Ginther Moran. She attended Pottsville Schools. Florence retired from the Pottsville School District where she worked as a "lunch lady" at the former Garfield School and the D.H.H. Lengel Middle School; she then worked as a crossing guard at 5th & West Norwegian Sts. in Pottsville. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Pottsville, where she assisted with the Bishop's Annual Appeal, cleaned the church and cooked food for Bingo; She was one of the founding women of the American Hose Co. #2 Ladies Auxiliary, Pottsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert N. Ventresca, who passed away April 7, 1998; her two sisters, Catherine Bowden and Mary Laubach; and her brother, Joseph Moran. She is survived by her son, Robert F. Ventresca, husband of Donna, of Pottsville; her two daughters, Kathleen V. Wagner, wife of Edward, of Hershey, PA, and Angela A. Ventresca of Pottsville; her 5 Grandchildren, Laura Woodburn, Nicole Fahey, Dustin and Ryan Ventresca; her 3 Great Grandchildren, Shaun Fahey, Parker Woodburn and Olivia Lynn Ventresca. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Pottsville. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Seton Manor, 1000 Seton Drive, Orwigsburg, and also on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & West Market Sts., Pottsville.
