Florence M. (Kline) Stokes

AIRVILLE- Florence M. (Kline) Stokes, 99, went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 4, 2014 at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in York. She was the wife of the late William Arthur “Art” Stokes. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with a visitation from 10-11 a.m. Chaplain Sue Oelrich will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery in Airville. Florence was born in Chanceford Township on May 20, 1915, the daughter of the late Frederick Clarence and Anna Mary (Haugh) Kline. She worked at the Worley Neff and Joseph Klinefelter Cigar factories in Red Lion and also Collinsville Drive-in, where she retired in 1983. Florence was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church, Sunday school, and United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Airville Volunteer Fire Company and the Women’s Auxiliary of the Fireman’s Association of the state of Pennsylvania, as well as the Society of Farm Women. Florence leaves three sons, William Donald “Don” Stokes and his wife Jane of York, Terry Lee Stokes and his wife Judy of Felton, and Wayne Frederick Stokes and his wife Sandie of Airville; seven grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and seven great, great grandchildren. Two sisters, Naomi Reisinger and Mary Grafton, and a brother, Clarence Kline had preceded her in death.
