Florence "Flossie" M. (Becker) Hoover

YORK- Florence “Flossie” M. (Becker) Hoover, 89, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Manor Care Health Services- North. She was the wife of the late Paul A. Hoover, Sr. to whom she was married 24 years. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with The Reverend Judith McKee officiating. Viewings will be held Thursday, February 4 from 6-8 PM and Friday from 9-10 AM at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family. Born July 2, 1926 in Manchester, Flossie was a daughter of the late William D. and Mamie (Gotwalt) Becker. She worked at Maple Press for 19 years until her retirement in 1987. She was a 1943 graduate of North York High School. Mrs. Hoover was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed woodworking and puzzles. Flossie had a wonderful sense of humor and had the gift of making others laugh. Mrs. Hoover is survived by two sons, Paul A. Hoover, Jr. and his wife Dolly of York, and Earl W. Hoover and his wife Connie of East Berlin; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; a brother, George Becker of York, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Flossie was preceded in death by four brothers. Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406.
