YORK – Flo L. Wallace, 88, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Leader Heights’ Country Meadows Retirement Home in York, PA. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles H. Wallace to whom she was married for nearly 57 years before his passing in 2014.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with Pastor Kimberlee Piper officiating the service. There will be a viewing held from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Red Run Cemetery located at 6623 Davidsburg Road., East Berlin, 17316.
Born July 24, 1936 in Dallastown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Raymond W. and Elizabeth (Bailey) Strayer. A proud graduate and cheerleader of Dallastown Area High School, class of 1954, she went on to work as a secretary for Caterpillar. After her marriage, she joined her husband Chuck as he served in the United State Air Force, moving to California, and later Alaska and Virginia. Flo was a past member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Warrington Township Women’s Club, and the Outdoor Country Club where she was an avid golfer. She also loved to travel, having vacation homes in Florida and Delaware. Flo will be remembered as a dedicated and wonderful mother, a great friend, and a proud military wife. The memories of her life will always be cherished.
Surviving are her two children, Lorena E. “Lori” DiZio and her husband Joseph; Bret A. Wallace and his wife Mary J. Wallace; a daughter-in-law, Yvonne D. Wallace; seven grandchildren: Joseph C. DiZio, Kade J. Wallace, Elizabeth Wallace-Failner, Natalie DiZio-Feaster, Sara J. Wallace, Anna Wallace-Doleman, and Brea Wallace-Rice; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray G. Strayer; a niece Kelly A. Strayer; and a nephew David R. Strayer. She is preceded in death by her son, James H. Wallace; a sister, Janet L. Kenyon and her husband Elton; and a sister-in-law, Sandra MW Strayer.
