Ferne M. (Heindel) Stein

RED LION – Ferne M. (Heindel) Stein, 69, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at York Hospital. She was the loving wife of Rodger H. Stein to whom she was married 48 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM, Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dallastown. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be Thursday, October 13 at 7 PM at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. The Rev. John McCloskey, OFM Cap. will be officiating . A visitation will be Thursday from 6-7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the request of the family. Ferne was born on November 3, 1941 in Dallastown. She was a daughter of the late John O. and Gertrude I. (Ruby) Heindel. She was self-employed, selling and designing custom window coverings. Ferne was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dallastown for over 64 years. Ferne was the kind of woman who always thought of others before herself. She was extremely passionate about her family and friends and loved every moment spent with her grandchildren. Ferne also volunteered for breast cancer causes. In addition to her husband, Ferne is survived by two sons, Brant Stein and wife Candy of Red Lion and Brad Stein and wife Stephanie of Dallastown; four grandchildren, Brayden, Evan, Olivia and Bella Stein; two sisters, Marlene Kilgore and husband Leon of Airville and Sandra Small and husband Dave of York; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Heindel.
