Ferne M. (Gemmill) Gipe

York—Ferne M. (Gemmill) Gipe, 93, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Autumn House East. She was the wife of the late W. Walter Gipe. A Graveside Service will be 11 AM, Monday, June 2, 2014 at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery in Chanceford Township. Officiating the service will Heartland Hospice Chaplain, the Rev. Wesley Mast. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born August 11, 1920 in Lower Windsor Township, she was a daughter of the late Roy M. and Addie R. (Snyder) Gemmill. A loving and dedicated homemaker for her family, she was also a member of the former Shenberger’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Gipe is survived by two sons, Darrell D. Gipe and his wife, Nancy of Hellam and Donald A. Gipe and his wife, Susan of Hershey; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; one sister, E. Grace Ruby of Springvale and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six siblings. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3417-C Concord Rd, York, PA 17402. Mrs. Gipe’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Autumn House East and Heartland Hospice, especially, Sue and Joanne for all the care and support she received.
