Dallastown—Fern R. (Snelbaker) Furst Hamberger, 88, died Friday, September 6, 2013 at Manor Care Health Services-Dallastown. She was the wife of the late James M. Hamberger, Sr., and the late Paul E. Furst. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10 AM, Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A visitation will be from 9-10 AM, Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Dallastown Home Cemetery. Born February 3, 1925 in Dallastown, she was a daughter of the late Wilson E. and Ruth E. (Kauffman) Snelbaker. Mrs. Hamberger was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, cooking and canning vegetables from her garden. She was a member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Mrs. Hamberger is survived by one son, Paul E. Furst of York; one daughter, Suzanne M. Thompson and husband, James of Dallastown; one step daughter, Arlene Perkins and husband, Jim of Baltimore; two step sons, James M. Hamberger, Jr., and wife, Blanche of York and Wayne K. Hamberger and wife, Stephanie of Birmingham, AL; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Flo Parlett of York and Kay Ann Renoll of Dallastown, as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Gail Meyer, Leola Lentz and Candace Bulick.
