DUPONT-Felix B. Grabiec, 86, of Dupont, passed away Thursday morning in St. Mary's Villa, Elmhurst. Born in Dupont on May 17, 1922, he was a son of the late John and Catherine (Kaczor) Grabiec. He was a graduate of Kingston High School where he lettered in football, baseball and boxing. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theatre, Guam and the Mariana Islands. Prior to retiring, he was employed by Oneida Silversmith, New York Mr. Grabiec was a member of Holy Mother of Sorrows Church, Dupont; a life member of the Marine Corps League Black Sheep Detachment, Pittston; VFW Post 4909, Dupont; Amvets Post 189, Dupont; American Legion Post 457, Dupont and the Polish Club. He was an avid baseball player and great catcher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Cecilia (Tokash) Grabiec; infant son, John; brothers Adam, "Ray" Teofil and Joseph; sisters Mary and Viola. Surviving are his son, Attorney Sherwood Grabiec and his wife, Valerie, Avoca; grandson Gregory Grabiec; nieces Gloria, Patricia and Barbara; nephews Joseph, David and Robert. The funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 728 Main Street, Avoca, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Mother of Sorrows Church, Dupont, with Father Zbigniew Dawid officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Dupont with military honors provided by the Marine Corps, VFW Post 4909 and Amvets Post 189.
