YORK- Everett E. Frey, 98, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Sprenkle Dr. He was the husband of the late Louise (Hege) Frey, who passed away on November 28, 2003. The couple wed on December 26, 1948.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 am Saturday, December 17, 2022 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 839 W. Market St., York with the Rev. Keith C. Fair officiating. A private burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, York is assisting with arrangements.
Mr. Frey was born January 3, 1924 in York. He was a son of the late Henry P. and Mary (Livingston) Frey.
He was employed at Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years until his retirement in January of 1983. He was a 1942 graduate of William Penn Senior High School and a 1949 graduate of Gettysburg College. He was also a US Army veteran of World War II serving our country overseas in the European Theatre of Operations.
Mr. Frey was a life member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in York where he was a former member of the Church Council, the Half-Century Fellowship, Sunday School, and following his retirement, was an active volunteer, including pushing wheelchairs at Sprenkle Village for 15 years. He was also a member of the Lutheran Men’s Club of York County.
Mr. Frey enjoyed following all sports on TV, especially baseball, reading, current events, playing golf and watching his grandkids and great-grandkids growing up, going to their activities and going on trips with his sons when possible.
He is survived by his sons, Rodney H. Frey and wife, Dotty of South Portland, ME and Philip A. Frey and wife, Diane of York; five grandchildren, Rebecca D. Frey of London, England, Daniel J. Frey and wife, Jodie of Scarborough, ME, Andrew N. Frey and wife, Katie of Denver, CO, Sarah E.J. Frey and husband, Justin Ernest of Macungie, and Naomi L.G. Frey and longtime boyfriend, Tyler VanWyk of York; and four great grandchildren, Brayden, Mason, Julia and Wade. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Emerson T. Frey and Paul L. Frey; two sisters Alice Heylmun and Phyllis A. Freed; and grandson baby Timothy Joseph Frey who passed on November 1, 1993.
