Evelyn V. (Plunk) Romano

York—Evelyn V. (Plunk) Romano, 93, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services-North. She was the wife of the late Carmen P. Romano. A Graveside Service will be private at the convenience of the family at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Huntington Valley. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Born September 4, 1920 in Crump, TN, she was the daughter of the late Jake and Grace A. (Phillips) Plunk. She was employed in the cafeteria at Sears & Roebuck in Philadelphia for 25 years until her retirement in 1983. During World War II she worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” for Fisher Aircraft near Memphis, TN. Mrs. Romano is survived by one daughter, Pamela G. Shervin and her husband, Carl Rande Shervin of York; three grandchildren, Nicole D. Soderberg and her husband, Jon, Brooke Markel and her husband, Jason and Craig Shervin; two great grandchildren, Anna Soderberg and Jackson Markel. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
