Evelyn M. Samuelsohn

YORK AND BOCA RATON, FL - Evelyn M. (Pavloff) Samuelsohn, 94, died at 10:05 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2007 at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton. She was the wife of the late Harry J. Samuelsohn. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Temple Beth Israel, 2090 Hollywood Dr., York, with Rabbi Irwin N. Goldenberg officiating. Burial will be in South Hills Hebrew Cemetery. Everhart-Jackson-Heffner Funeral Home, 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Samuelsohn was born October 14, 1913, in Shenandoah, Schuylkill County. She was the daughter of the late Leon and Connie Pavloff. She was a college graduate earning her degree in business. An entrepreneur, she was one of the first women to enter the frozen foods business marketing pierogies and "Curley's Barbeque" on her sales route between York and Philadelphia. She also assisted her late husband with their family business, Economy Meat Market, in York. She was a member of Temple Beth Israel and was a lifetime member and past president of Hadassah. A successful investor herself, she was proud to be able to help other women learn how to properly invest in order to secure their futures. She will be remembered by many for her kind acts of philanthropy and was pleased to have been able to donate the children's waiting area at the York Hospital. The vast majority of her behests were directed to agencies in York that are dedicated to children and helping those in need. Even though she moved to Boca Raton, her heart always remained in York. Mrs. Samuelsohn leaves two nieces, Melody Smith of Boca Raton, FL and Terrie L. DuCray of Long Boat Key, FL; and a cousin, Arthur Spector, also of Florida. Memorial contributions may be made to Jewish Family Services of York, or the Jewish Community Center, both at 2000 Hollywood Dr., York, PA 17403 or Temple Beth Israel or Hadassah, 2090 Hollywood Dr., York, PA 17403.
