Evelyn M. (Rawheiser) Kauffman

YORK - Evelyn M. (Rawheiser) Kauffman, 88, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Manor Care Health Services- South. She was the wife of the late Louis C. Kauffman, who passed away on July 26, 2000. The couple wed on July 29, 1940. A celebration of life tribute service will be 2 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2011 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. A visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be in Shenberger’s Chapel Cemetery, New Bridgeville. Mrs. Kauffman was born on October 10, 1922 in Red Lion, a daughter of the late Sterling and Mary (Smeltzer) Rawheiser. Evelyn was a beautician at her beauty shop, Evelyn’s Beauty Shop, in New Bridgeville for 47 years. She was a devoted personal caregiver to her husband for 15 years. Mrs. Kauffman was a member of the former Shenberger’s Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was involved with many church functions. She enjoyed traveling to the cabin in the mountains, traveling to Ocean City, N.J. and spending time with her family. Mrs. Kauffman is survived by a son, Louis C. Kauffman, Jr.; a daughter, Joan M. Lawrence; three grandchildren, Christine Rodick, Stephanie Teschendorf, and Heather Arnold; eight great grandchildren; a daughter in law, Gail Kauffman; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Rawheiser; and a sister, Doris Posey.
