Evelyn M. Kutz

YORK- Evelyn M. (Shaeffer) Kutz, 82, died Monday, September 8, 2008 at her residence. She was the wife of Richard E. Kutz to whom she was married for 39 years. A tribute service will be held at a later date. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born June 2, 1926 in Shippensburg, a daughter to the late John A. Shaeffer, Sr. and the late Mary (Mellott) Shaeffer; she managed the Christian Science Reading Room and had previously worked for PA Department of Motor Vehicles. Evelyn would also spend countless "hand-on" hours overseeing the daily farm operations of raising their pure bread cattle. Mrs. Kutz was a member and second reader at First Church of Christ, Scientist; she also served as a second reader at her affiliated churches in California and Illinois. She was the president of the Spring Grove Area Senior Citizens; a member of the National Association Retired Federal Employees; and an avid Penn State Fan. She will be fondly remembered as a loving individual to all whom she met. Mrs. Kutz is survived by two sons, David J. and wife Molly Koller of New Oxford and Theodore T. and wife Leah Kutz of Moraga, CA; a daughter, Nancy A. and husband Jessie Beard of Tennessee; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a brother, John A. and wife Helen Shaeffer of Shippensburg.
