Evelyn M. (Ackerman) Miller

HORSEHEADS, NY- Evelyn M. (Ackerman) Benton Miller, 72, formerly of the Elmira and Wellsburg, NY areas passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at ELCOR in Horseheads, NY. Evelyn was born on May 8, 1938 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late Paul and Anna (Giesa) Ackerman. She worked for St. Joseph's Hospital for over 30 years in the Dietary Department and also enjoyed operating a craft business. Besides loving crafts, Evelyn also enjoyed the outdoors and like watching hummingbirds. Evelyn was Baptist by faith. To Evelyn, family meant everything. Her surviving family includes her daughter Adelle Ackerman of Elmira, NY, her son Rev. Daniel (Vicki) Benton of Waterbury, CT, her grandchildren: Katie (Benton) Laribee and husband Justin, Emily Benton, James Benton, Justin Hoose, and her brother George Ackerman and wife Sandy of Wellsburg, NY, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband James Benton, Jr. Family and friends are welcome to call from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, June 10, 2010 and again from 9:00 AM-10:00 AM on Friday, June 11th at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY. The funeral service to celebrate Evelyn's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home with her son, Rev. Daniel Benton, officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service in Ashland Cemetery, Wellsburg, NY.
