WILKES-BARRE- Evelyn K. Bergstrasser, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Guardian Elder Care, Nanticoke. Born in Wilkes-Barre on March 17, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Christopher G. and Elizabeth C. (Diggeman) Yeager. She attended G.A.R High School and prior to retiring, she was employed as a seamstress at Garssel Brothers Manufacturing. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Bergstrasser, Sr. on February 17, 1990; infant son, David; brother, Alvin Yeager; and sisters, Emma Schaffer and Louise Yeager. She is survived by her son, William J. Bergstrasser, Wilkes-Barre, daughter, Jane Struzzeri and her husband, Phillip, Endicott, NY; grandchildren, Paula Kanjorski and her husband, Peter, Kristoffer Bergstrasser and his wife, Amber, Kimberly Sbarra and her husband, James; and great grandchildren, Peter Alex, Katherine, Elizabeth, and William Kanjorski, and Matthew and Vincent Sbarra. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 190 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with Reverend Peter D. Kuritz officiating. Burial will follow in Fern Knoll Cemetery, Dallas. Anyone attending the funeral is asked to go directly to the church. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
