RED LION - Evelyn Irene (Moody) Smith was ushered to heaven by the lord on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Barbara J. Egan Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Ray A. Smith, who passed away on October 4, 1974. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Pomfret Manor Cemetery, 900 Packer St., Sunbury, PA with the Reverend Dr. Chester V. Joines officiating. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born on December 3, 1920 in Northumberland, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Gertrude (Long) Moody. Evelyn was a seamstress for the York Casket Co., formerly York-Hoover, until her retirement in 1986. Mrs. Smith was a member of Salem U.C.C. Church and recently attended Round Hill Presbyterian Church. Evelyn enjoyed traveling and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Smith is survived by one granddaughter, Tammy Godfrey and her husband, Troy of Red Lion; four great grandchildren, Barry Leader, Brandi Urey and her husband, Brandon, Kayla Beard and her husband, Josh and Cortney Godfrey and her companion, Greg Johnson; three great great grandchildren, Masen Urey, Audrey Beard and Emelia Leader; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorraine Leader who passed away in 2002; an infant son, Terry Smith; one grandson, Brian Leader; one brother, Kenneth Moody; and one sister, Ruth Cressinger. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, York County Division, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
