York—Evelyn D. (Keener) Black, 88, formerly of Dallastown, died Saturday, February 16, 2008 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late William Black and George B. Basehore. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A viewing will be held from 1-2 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Black was born April 18, 1919 in Chanceford Township, a daughter of the late John and Laura (Olewiler) Keener. She was employed by the former York County Gas Company for 30 plus years, until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Windsor. Mrs. Black is survived by her son, William G. Basehore of York, her daughter, Carolyn L. Burk of Brogue, three grandchildren, Danita, Dwane and Troy, 2 great-grandchildren, Brent and Marita, daughter-in-law, Beverly A. Miller and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 460 Salem Church Rd., Windsor, PA 17366 or American Diabetes Association, Memorial and Honor Program, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 101, Harrisburg, Pa 17110.
