Evelyn D. (Eichelberger) Hughes

CARLISLE - Evelyn D. [Eichelberger] Hughes, 86, formerly of Lewisberry, died Sunday, April 1, 2007 at Claremont Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Wayne E. Hughes. A celebration of life service will be 11:00 AM Thursday at Trindle Spring Lutheran Church, 14 State Road, Lewisberry, with Rev. Richard G. Lorenz officiating. A luncheon at the Church will immediately follow the service. Private burial will be in Parkville Cemetery. Beaver Urich Funeral Home, Inc., 305 West Front Street; Lewisberry is in charge of arrangements. Born October 8, 1920 in Lewisberry a daughter of the late Elmer and Mary [Reiff] Eichelberger, she retired from New Cumberland Army Depot. She enjoyed researching genealogy and was active at the Annie E. Sterling Library in Lewisberry. Mrs. Hughes is survived by a daughter, Yvonne Kay Hughes of Mechanicsburg; a granddaughter, Tracy R. and husband Michael Zerby of Mechanicsburg; two great granddaughters, Katherine and Julia Zerby; two brothers, Robert Eichelberger of Baton Rouge, LA and Ray Eichelberger of Lewisberry; and two sisters, Lois Hoopes and Adella Detter both of Dillsburg. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Vance Eichelberger. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Annie E. Sterling Library, 308 Market St., Lewisberry, PA 17339.
