Evelyn Carrie (Brown) Owens

WILKES-BARRE-Evelyn "Eve" Carrie Brown Owens, 88, rested in the Lord on Sunday, June 24, 2007. Born on December 17, 1918, she was daughter of the late Carrie Peace and David Thomas Brown, Sr. She was a graduate of G.A.R. High School. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service, Manhattan, and was later employed by Elmhurst General Hospital, Elmhurst, NY until retiring in 1976. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Monstrose Owens; sisters Georgia L.B. McKenzie; Lois A. Dayson; Helen Milligan; Mary L. Jackson and brother David T. Brown, Jr. Surviving are her daughter, Leonarda Kathleen (Danny Beal) Smith; son Byron Peter (Jan) Owens; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother Harry P. (Lillian) Brown; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Oak Lawn Cemetery, with the Reverend J. Duane Gavitt officiating.
