Mill Hall - Evelyn C. McHenry, 89 of Lamar Twp., passed away quietly at her home in Salona on Monday, December 10, 2007. She was born March 13, 1918 in Lamar Twp., the daughter of the late S. Clyde & Grace J. (McGill) Burrell. She was preceded in death by her husband A. Frank McHenry who died on September 8, 2001 and to whom she had been married for 64 years. They were married in Williamsport, Maryland. She was a lifelong Member of Salona Lutheran Church. Her places of employment included the Sylvania Plant in Mill Hall, J.C. Penny and Grossman's in Lock Haven. She was also the postmistress at the Salona substation and clerk and later chief clerk at the Penn Dot Barn in Lock Haven. Throughout her life she was very active in the Democratic Party in Clinton County and was elected to the position of Committeewoman for the Democratic Party for Lamar Township for many years. He was also a member of the Clinton County Women's Democratic Club and had held the positions of president and secretary of the club. Evelyn enjoyed gardening and politics. She was a graduate of Lock Haven High School. Surviving are one Son Samuel J. McHenry of Salona and one Daughter Sondra B. Durkin of Mount Morris, PA Two Grandchildren Kevin E. Durkin of Santa Monica, CA and Heather A. Huth of Scottsdale, AZ and three great grandchildren Two Sisters Edith M. Haagen of Lock Haven and Betty J. O'Donnell of Vero Beach, FL Two Nephews Samuel A. Haagen of Lock Haven, Kim L. Haagen of Harrisburg and one niece Joyce Wagner of Warren, PA The funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 15, 2007 at the Salona Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverends Nathan and Andrea Rice officiating. A viewing will be held at the church from 12:30 - 2:00 P.M. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Salona Evangelical Lutheran Church, 754 Long Run Road, Mill Hall, PA 17751 Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall.
