Eva Adele (Williams) Jenkins, daughter of the late Mortimer and Fannie (Gorton) Williams was born on May 4, 1914 in Union Township, Bradford County, PA. On December 6, 1933 She married John Edgar Jenkins and together they shared 73 years of marriage. Eva was called to be with her loving husband John in Heaven the morning of February 26, 2008. Eva was cared for by her loving staff at the Phyl Carlo Retirement Center and the Bradford County Manor. Eva graduated from the Canton High School class of 1931. Eva was an active member of the Troy First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for forty years, serving as Worthy Matron from 1970-1971. Eva served as an advisor for the International Order of Rainbow Girls. Eva was a former leader of the Troy Brownies and Girl Scouts, Troy 4-H Club, and a camp counselor. She was a member of the Troy Historical Society, Troy Genealogy Group, and the Thursday Study Club. Eva was a twenty-five year member of the Troy Grange. Eva, along with her husband John, hosted many international students and couples in their home. Eva was a wonderful seamstress. She will be remembered for the beautiful cloths and textiles she made though out her life. Eva's past times were spent sewing, cooking, walking, and spending time with grandchildren and dear friends. Eva was predeceased by her parents, her husband John E. Jenkins, brothers Clair and Carlyle Williams, sisters Lorene Landon and Geraldine Wanck, sister-in-law Betty Williams, broth-in-law Mahlon Wanck. Eva is survived by her daughters Phyllis (Maurice) Kendall of Lake Wales, FL, and Sheila (John) Wilcox of troy, PA, brother-in-law Roy Landon of Canton, PA, her grandchildren: Cindy (Joe) Castle, Laurie (David) Baud, Melissa Wilcox, Jonathan (Mary) Wilcox, Peter (Amy) Wilcox, Jason (Stacey) Wilcox, Jennifer (Jason) Allen, and Brian Wilcox. Eva is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter, and special friend Leora Williams. Family and friends are welcome to call from 1:00-2:00 PM on Monday, March 3, 2008 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA. The funeral service to honor Eva's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 3rd at the funeral home with her pastor, Rev. Richard Noggle, officiating. Burial will be in North Union Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Eva's name to the First United Methodist Church of Troy, 205 Redington Ave. Troy, PA 16947 or to the Allen F. Pierce Library, 115 Center St. Troy, PA 16947 or ones charity of choice.
