Eugene W. Brasington

TROY_ EUGENE W. BRASINGTON ~ Age 78, of Troy passed away peacefully Sunday evening January 27, 2012 at Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira with his loving family by his side. He was born September 14, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Eugene & Charlotte (McNay) Brasington. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Kenneth Brasington. In 1958 he began a long career in automobiles at McClure Motors Ford in Troy, later at Genes Machines in Canton, Calkins Motors in Troy and with Williams Auto in Towanda and Wyalusing. He achieved many honors in the Ford Sales community including a long position in The 500 Club. In his youth he enjoyed gymnastics while growing up in Cincinnati. He loved golfing as a member of Corey Creek Country Club, ping-pong and snowmobiling. His years in the Troy Lions Club included serving in officer positions, and he particularly enjoyed his comedy skit performances in the minstrel shows. He was also active in the early years of The Armenia Mountain Snowmobile Club. Known by each of his grandchildren and great grandchildren as loving and caring, his memory will live on and his presence will be missed. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ona of 57 years; loving children, Thomas (Michelle) Brasington of Perkiomenville, David Brasington of Ft. Lauderdale, William (Joie) of Troy; brothers, Douglas (Linda) of Maryland and Timothy Brasington of Cincinnati, OH; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Linda (Ken McIlhinney), Lisa, Amanda (Mark Prekup), Kimberly, Thomas, Katherine, Alexandra; five great-grandchildren, Angelo, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Ethan and Jackson along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. The public is invited to attend services at The First Baptist Church of Troy, 579 Canton Street, Troy, PA 16947 on Saturday, February 2, 2013. Visitation is from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. Funeral services begin at noon with Reverend Zuber. A private family burial service is planned in Glenwood Cemetery. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flower memorials, it is the family's wishes to support The First Baptist Church of Troy in the memory of Eugene William Brasington.
