YORK- Eugene "Jim" F. Miller, 91, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Frey) Miller, to whom he was married 39 years. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, December 11, 2015 at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 839 West Market Street, York, with The Reverend Kevin T. Shively officiating. A viewing will be held from 10:30-11:30 AM prior to the service. Burial will be at 3 PM in Canadochly Cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Miller served our country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the 95th Medical Gas Treatment Battalion and served in England, France, Luxembourg, Holland, Germany and Belgium. Mr. Miller had a lasting impact on the outcome of Four Great Battles fought in Northern France, Rhineland Crossing, Southern Germany and the infamous Brierly Hill. Born September 11, 1924 in York, Jim was a son of the late Charles and Minnie (Kimes) Miller. He worked as a delivery man for Fox Bakery, Capital Bakery, and a maintenance man for Borg Warner of York from which he retired in 1989. Jim was a member of the West York VFW Post 8951. He loved to travel and enjoyed square dancing. Mr. Miller is survived by twin daughters, Anne Schaale of Felton and Lee Miller of Dover; three grandchildren, Brant Crumbling, Mindi Sier and Tracy Bollinger; nine great grandchildren; three great great grand daughters; a brother, Robert Miller of York; and two sisters, Minnie Prietz of Lake Zurich, IL and Betty Lou Greenawalt of York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, Inc., 1117 Country Club Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011. The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the amazing staff at Pleasant Acres for the exceptional care they provided for Jim.
