Eugene D. Hemmann

YORK - Eugene D. Hemmann, 88, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Normandie Ridge. He was the husband of the late LaNae (Maxfield) Hemmann. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 28, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, 2215 Brandywine Lane, York with his pastor, The Rev. Dr. Janyce C. Jorgensen officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11:00 AM Monday at the Church. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born August 12, 1929 in Reeder, North Dakota, a son of the late Gustav C. and Etta H. (Badten) Hemmann, he was a 1947 graduate of Granite High School in Salt Lake City, UT. Mr. Hemmann retired from his sales career at Boart Longyear Co. after 45 years of service. He was an active member at Zion Lutheran Church, loved to draw and sketch, enjoyed remodeling, carpentry and using his mechanical abilities to repair anything. Eugene will be fondly remembered for his love of family, animals and his ability to tell a good joke. Mr. Hemmann had served in the US Army Reserves. Mr. Hemmann is survived by two sons, David E. and wife Debbie Hemmann of Dover and Paul S. and wife Marci Hemmann of York; two daughters, Darlene and husband David Bahn of Dover and Lori A. and husband Philip Kain of York; his beloved family friend whom he treated as a daughter, Sandy L. Brown of York; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth and Sophie; and two brothers, Norman and Gerald. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 2215 Brandywine Lane, York, PA 17404.
