Eugene B. Tray, Sr.

POTTSVILLE - Eugene B. Tray, Sr., 85, of Pottsville died Monday morning at the Schuylkill Medical Center, South Jackson Street, Pottsville. Born in Pottsville on July 16, 1925, he was a son of the late William and Mary Hornung Tray. Eugene was in the US Army, serving in the Pacific Theater. On July 29, 1950, he married the former Kathleen E. Raess, who died April 6, 1993. Until retiring in 1981, he was employed by the Army Reserve in Schuylkill Haven. He was a member of the former Mary Queen of Peace Church and a member of Saint John the Baptist Church. He was a member of the Walter Griffiths AMVETS, Pottsville. Surviving Eugene are: a son, Eugene B. Tray, Jr., husband of the late Deborah Ann Pancerella Tray, Auburn; two daughters, Katherine and her husband James Cunningham, Pottsville and Christine Tray, Pottsville; four grandchildren, James Cunningham, Michael Cunningham, Lorrie Cunningham Botella, and Eugene J. Tray; a brother, Gerald Tray, Hamburg; a sister, Josephine M. Tray, St. Josephs Villa, Flowertown; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, wife and daughter-in-law, Eugene was preceded in death by: a brother, William F. Tray and a sister, Marie E. Tray. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 11 AM from St. John the Baptist Church, 10th & Mahantongo St., Pottsville. The Reverend David Loeper will officiate. Family and friends may call at the church from 10 AM until time of mass. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. The Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Sisters of Saint Joseph, 110 W. Wissahickon Ave., Flowertown, PA 19031.
