Eugene B. Love

YORK- Eugene “Gene” Love passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 19, 2021 with his loving wife Barbara (Schultz) Love by his side. The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on December 23, 2020. Gene was born in Dallastown on May 9, 1937, a son of Luther and Myrtle (Fake) Love. Surviving along with his wife are three children, Jeffrey (Jane), Steven, and Kim Love; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and three brothers, Dale, Donald, and Thomas, and he will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clair Love. Gene proudly served his country, serving in the Vietnam War before retiring from the US Navy after 20 years. He was a member of the Pleasureville American Legion and Hawk’s Gunning Club. He retired from Mack Truck in York, with 20 years of service and worked for the York County Parks System for five years. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a visitation from 1-2 p.m. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard at the start of the service. Certified Celebrant Betty Frey will be officiating at the service. Burial will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
