Eudora D. (Dunbar) Bovier

TROY - Eudora D. (Dunbar) Bovier, Age 93, of North Lake Road, Big Pond, PA passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011 at the Bradford County Manor West Burlington, PA. Eudora was born June 2, 1918 in Big Pond daughter of the late Romie & Coral (Smith) Dunbar. She attended a one-room schoolhouse for eight years and was a graduate of the Troy High School Class of 1936. Eudora earned her Bachelors Degree from Mansfield State College and her Masters Degree from Columbia University. She taught school for twelve years in Pennsylvania beginning in rural one-room schools in Berrytown, Big Pond and Bentley Creek, PA. She also taught in Troy Elementary School and three years in Bradford, PA. She then moved to Long Island to teach school in Southampton, NY for two years and then finished her teaching career in Lynbrook, NY where she taught for twenty-four years and retiring in 1975. During this time she was a world traveler. In 1972 she made a trip around the world in 42 days visiting 13 countries. Eudora made many trips to Europe and visited every state except Alaska. On January 1, 1980 she married Coy Bovier with whom she had gone to high school with. They met at their 40th high school class reunion and were happily married for 20 years. They spent their summers at her cottage on Lake Ondawa, PA and winters in his home in August, GA. Her husband Coy died in September 1999. She was a member of the Big Pond United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, 76-year member of the Ondawa Grange, Big Pond and Ladies of Lake Ondawa. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Dilmon & Lola Dunbar of Big Pond, PA, step-son, Audie & Sharon Bovier of Martinez, GA, step-daughter, Tina Bovier of Augusta, GA, step-grandchildren, Scott, Margo & Danielle Bovier, a step-great-granddaughter, Arianwyn Bovier, her nieces and nephews, Glenn (Marianne) Dunbar, Judith (Jack) Burke, Janet (Barry) Jones, Diane (Roy) Andrus, Gail (Charles) Roberson, LaRue (Nancy) Montanye, Jan (Hugo) Castillo, Dale Dunbar, Karen (James) Kilzer, Gene (Olwen) Dunbar and special gentleman friend Kirt “Bill” Kistler. Family and friends are invited to call from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Big Pond United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 1 PM with Reverend Rich Noggle officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Big Pond at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donation are directed to the Falck Cancer Center, 600 Roe Avenue, Elmira, NY 14901.
