Ethel W. (Wright) Price

WILLIAMSPORT - Ethel W. (Wright) Price, 86, departed this life surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Sycamore Manor. She was the wife of the late Curtis T. Price who had died April 6, 1992. Ethel was born on February 22, 1921 in Petersburg, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Reverend Samuel J. and Carrie B. (Berry) Wright. She was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School and attended the Wilber Force University in Ohio. She was a former Clerk Supervisor of the Montoursville State Police office and retired in 1989. Ethel was the oldest member of the Bethel AME Church where she was the pianist for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Mayflower Chapter #18, served as District Deputy Grand Matron, member of the Stewardess Board, American Business Women's Association, United Churches of Lycoming County, Church Women's United, and was the last member of JADEMS- Past Matrons Council. She had also served on the Board of Directors of the former Bethune Douglas Community Center. Ethel is survived by two sons; Curtis J. Price, Jr. of Upper Marlboro, MD and Allan Lee Price "Lee" of Williamsport, one daughter; Dolores P. Harris of Williamsport, five grandchildren; five great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by; one brother; Ernest Wright and one sister; Narvis Davis. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2008 at the Bethel AME Church, 600 Hepburn St., Williamsport with the Reverend Kenneth A. Burnett officiating the services. There will be a public viewing 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport. There will also be a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church on Friday. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
