Ethel I. (Saunders) Layton

WELLSBURG, NY- Ethel I. (Saunders) Layton, 92, of Wellsburg, NY, passed away January 28, 2009 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. She was the loving wife of the late Reginald E. Layton who passed away in 1994. The couple had 58 happy years together. Family and friends are welcome to gather at 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY, for the memorial service to celebrate Ethel's life. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Ashland Cemetery. Ethel was born on October 30, 1916 in Wellsburg, NY the daughter of the late Samuel and Electa (Seymour) Saunders. She worked on the assembly line for the Remington Rand Corporation in Elmira. Ethel was life long member of Wellsburg Methodist Church and was a former treasurer of the United Methodist Women. Some of her favorite times were spent at the family cottage at Seneca Lake. Ethel's family includes her sons: Raymond (Dianne) Layton of Elmira, NY, and Dennis (Janice) Layton of Watkins Glen, NY, her daughters: Gayle (Wendell) Draper of Hammondsport, NY, and Carol (Arthur) Jones of Elmira, NY, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, along with several nieces and nephews. Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Reginald, and several brothers and sisters.
