YORK Ethel (Claybaugh) Roe, 85, died at 12:10 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013 at ManorCare-Kingston Court. She was the wife of the late Clarence LeRoy Roe who died in 1972. A Celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Certified Celebrant, Betty Frey officiating. Burial will be in Machpelah Cemetery, Yorkana. Viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Roe was born August 17, 1927, in McCoysville, Juniata County. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Mary (Shaffer) Claybaugh. She was a graduate of The Rock School, a one room schoolhouse, in Juniata County and was a loving homemaker. She formerly attended St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mrs. Roe is survived by three sons, Kenneth W. Roe of Cincinnati, OH, Clarence L. Roe, Jr. of Squaw Valley, CA, and Marvin E. Roe of York; three daughters, Jane C. Arnold of York, Helen L. Schell of Manchester, and Lisa M. Lockard of Red Lion; 13 grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jean Whorley and Shirley. She was preceded in death by two sons, Allen L. and Robert L. Roe; a daughter, Robin Ellen Roe; eight siblings; and a longtime companion, Bill Lawson. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N.
