Esther M. James

York—Esther Mae (Lehman) James, 80, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Michael S. James.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00AM, Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. Officiating the service will be Certified Celebrant Amy Favorito. A viewing will be held from 9:00 – 10:00AM, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Mt. Rose Cemetery.

Born May 24, 1944 in York, she was the daughter of the late Aden E. and Catherine E. (Almoney) Lehman.

She was employed for many years with Dauphin Deposit Bank as a branch manager until her retirement. Following her retirement she worked at the York County Sheriff’s Office.

An avid traveler, she along with her husband loved visiting St. Thomas, going on cruises, taking bus trips and visiting Las Vegas. She loved shopping, attending Baltimore Orioles games and was a member of American Legion Post 791 and Vigilant Social Club.

Mrs. James is survived by her step children, Kent James and his wife, Gwenn, Scott James and his wife, Jackie, Danielle Foster and her husband, David; son-in-law, Bobby Glatfelter Jr., six grandchildren, Kayla Glatfelter, Lexy Brown, Madison James, Hailey James, Gabriel James and Colin Foster; one great grandchild, Keylin Glatfelter; two brothers, Martin Lehman and Paul Moul; two sisters, Leona Honaker and Mary Snyder and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Vickie Glatfelter; one grandchild, Bobby Glatfelter III and one brother, Harry Lehman.
