Estella R. Bucher

RED LION- Estella Rebecca (Norris) Bucher, 101, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late John Irvin Bucher. 

A service will be held on January 18, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 220 N. Charles Street in Red Lion, with a viewing from 10-11 a.m. and a luncheon to follow at the church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at New Harmony Presbyterian Cemetery in Brogue. The service will be live-streamed on Grace Lutheran Church Red Lion's Facebook page. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc, 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is assisting the family with the arrangements. 

Mrs. Bucher was born in Red Lion on July 8, 1923, the daughter of the late James and Sadie (Fake) Norris. She retired from Red Lion School District, where she worked in the cafeteria. 

Mrs. Bucher was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Red Lion, where she was involved with many activities including Sunday school and the nursery. She was a 1942 graduate of Red Lion High School. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.

Mrs. Bucher leaves two sons, David S. Bucher and his wife Kathy of Downingtown and James C. Bucher and his wife Sharon of Glen Rock; a daughter, Holly S. Barker and her husband Jeff of York; four grandchildren, Jared, Katlynd, Rachel, and Samantha; four step sisters Ann Keller, Bonnie Johnson, Sharon Wise, and Carol Rebuck; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Dustin; two brothers, Dean Norris and Carl Norris, and a step sister Kay Norris.
