BURLINGTON- Ernest Waldron Schill, Sr., 80, of Burlington, PA passed away at his home on Saturday. April 23, 2011. He was the loving husband of Karen L. (Dodge) Schill. The couple married April 15, 1963 and had 48 happy years together. Ernest was born on February 20, 1931 in Burlington, PA, son of the late Laverne Phelps Schill and Gladys (Waldron) Schill. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War. He served with the 79th T.Port Company aboard the U.S.S. Leo, re-supplying the radar stations in Alaska. He was honorably discharged October 8, 1954 at Fort Lewis, Washington. After serving in the army he worked for Pen Dot, and later ran his own scrap recycling business until retiring in 1997. He was an avid bird watcher. Ernest enjoyed doting on his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and recent great grandfather. His family includes his wife Karen, his son Ernest Jr. (Anna Morgan) of Burlington, his daughters: JaNell (Douglas) Young of Burlington, Joetta Aten of Meshoppen, and Stephanie Schill at home. He has 9 grandchildren: Adam, Cody (Carrie), and Rayme (Malcolm Mulvaney) Young, Jael Greene (Eddie Pompey), Joshua, Jourdan, and Jaycen Aten, Christian and Emma Morgan, and great grandson Malcolm Mulvaney, who is four months old. Ernest is also survived by several brothers and sisters in law, as well as many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Madelyn Marie Fulda in 1999, and brother Kenneth Schill in 2009. The graveside service to honor Ernests life will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Mountain Lake Cemetery, off the Burlington Turnpike, just south of Burlington, PA. Rev. Jasper Smith will be officiating and military rites will be given by the Troy Veterans honor Guard. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main St. Troy, PA has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Ernests memory to the Bradford County Humane Society, US 220, Ulster, PA 18850.
