Ernest R. Young

Troy - Ernest R. Young, Age 76 of Springfield Township, PA passed away at home Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Ernie was born December 4, 1933 in Wetona, PA son of the late Richard and Genevieve (Reeser) Young. He was a graduate of Troy High School and was married to the former Wilma Kittle on November 22, 1951. Ernie was a retired Dairy Farmer and was a lifelong steward of the land. His memberships included the Wetona Methodist Church and past member of the Pennsylvania Holstein Association, Holstein Association of America and for many years was the Dairy Cattle Superintendent at the Troy Fair. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, working with the area youth in the Kids Club in Wetona and 4H. Survivors include his loving wife Wilma K. Young of Wetona, three sons, Kenneth (Violet) Young of Wetona, Rodney (Darlene) Young of Blossburg, Jerry Young of Wetona, four daughters, Vicki Haight of Harrisburg, Cynthia (Dr. Richard) Husband of Granville Summit, Judi (Stephen) Brunelle of Springfield, Kristin (Todd) Seeley of Springfield, a brother, Thomas (Shirley) Young of Troy, sister, Alma Hartman of Elmira, NY, aunt, Marie Bennett of Canandaigua, NY, eighteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, six brothers-in-law, W. Duane, Donald, Leland "Skip", Willis, Gary and Harry Kittle, several nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents and a brother-in-law, Harold Hartman, predeceased Ernie. Family and friends are invited to call from 12 to 2 PM Sunday, December 27, 2009 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA. His funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 2 PM with Rev. Rich Noggle, Rev. Jim Crupi and Rev. Charlotte Morse officiating. Interment will follow in Wetona Cemetery.
