Ernest E. Ernie" Moyer

RED LION - Ernest E. Moyer, beloved husband, father, grandpa, and best friend to "Sugar Baby," died Thursday, June 24, 2010 at York Hospital, with family nearby. Ernie, as he was fondly known, celebrated his 80th birthday in November, at a party thrown in his honor. He was the husband of Patricia M. (Barley) Moyer to whom he would have celebrated his 57th wedding anniversary on June 27th. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with his pastor, The Rev. Dr. Charles W. Salisbury officiating. Viewings will be held from 6-8:00 PM Monday and 9-10:00 AM Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Salem Community Cemetery with military honors presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Ernie was born November 13, 1929, in Port Ann, PA, a son of the late Clarance and V. Maude (Thomas) Moyer. He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and had received the National Defense, United Nations Service, and Korean Service Medals for his years of service. He retired from Standard Register and until his death, had worked at Stambaugh & Ness and Family Heirloom Weavers. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Red Lion. Ernie will be best remembered for his love of playing the daily numbers, scratching lottery tickets, bingo playing, bowling, poker at family gatherings, and the New York Yankees. In addition to his wife, Ernie is survived by three sons, Steven and Mark Moyer both of Red Lion and Kim E. and wife Cynthia L. Moyer of York; three grandchildren, Katie E., Kelli M., and Kole E. Moyer all of Red Lion; two brothers, Andrew and Junior both of NY; three sisters, Pearl, Pauline, and Fae all of NY; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Leroy, Frank, and Burnell; and three sisters, Ruth, Florence, and Erma.
