RED LION- Ernest D. Smeltzer, Sr., 82 passed away Sunday January 25, 2008 at his residence. He was the husband of Virginia M. (Schrum) Smeltzer to whom he was married for 63 years. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A viewing will be held from 9-10:00AM Thursday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with Full Military Rites provided by Dallastown American Legion Honor Guard. Born on June 18, 1926, a son of the late Curvin and Almeda (Emenheiser) Smeltzer, he Worked 38 years at York International. He was a member of the Yorkanna Gun Club and the Dallastown American Legion. Mr. Smeltzer was an avid hunter who traveled throughout North America and particularly enjoyed hunting in Wyoming. He was an overall handyman who built homes and enjoyed carpentry work. Mr. Smeltzer was a US Army veteran having served during WWII. In addition to his wife, Mr. Smeltzer is survived by a son Ernest D. Smeltzer, Jr. and wife Lucinda of Dallastown; a daughter Jane L. Colvin of York; four grandchildren, Lisa Lee, Troy Smeltzer, Todd Colvin, and Christa Brillhart; five great grandchildren, Zachary and Summer Lee, Taylor Smeltzer, Tyler Crawford, and Chase Smeltzer; two brothers, Allen Smeltzer of Craley and Marlin Smeltzer of Red Lion; and two sisters, Lorene Reider of Mifflinburg and Sandra Klineman of Spring Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's (Chapel) United Methodist Church, 3050 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion, PA 17356.
