TROY - Ernest D. Foulkrod, 90, of Troy, PA passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at the Bradford County Manor. He was the husband of the late Kathryn Foulkrod who passed away on March 23, 2001. Family and friends are welcome to call from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 22, 2007 and again on Monday morning, July 23rd from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA. The funeral service to honor Ernie's life will be held after the viewing on Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Kenneth Marple officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Ernie was born on March 7, 1917 in Proctor, PA. He was the son of the late Arthur and Iva (Lewis) Foulkrod. Ernie was a World War II Army veteran, served in the European Theatre, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Ernie worked as a logger for many years and in his later years worked for the maintenance department of the Bradford County Area on Aging. He worked at both the Page and Keystone Manors and also went into homes to do repairs. Ernie attended the Austinville Union Church, liked hunting and gardening, collected antique crosscut saws and showed them at local events like the Troy Maple Festival and antique tractor and steam engine shows. The most important part of Ernie's life was his family; he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ernie is survived by his son John "Ralph" (Caroline) Foulkrod, Sr. of Troy, PA, his daughters; Margaret (Paul) Winder, Louise Foulkrod, and Donna (Clarence) Atwood, all of Troy, PA, his grandchildren: John "Ralph" (Dawn) Foulkrod, Jr., Ernest (Kimberly) Foulkrod, Kathy Jo Atwood, and Alfred Atwood, his great grandchildren: Carol and Faith Foulkrod, Elizabeth and Rebekah Foulkrod, his sisters: Ruth Blair of Trout Run, PA, Dorothy Rightmire of Williamsport, PA, and Dora Tuttle of Horseheads, NY, along with several nieces and nephews. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kathryn, his brothers: Ralph Foulkrod and Dick Foulkrod and his two sisters: Rachel Norton and Kathryn Snell. Memorial contributions may be made in Ernie's memory to the Austinville Union Church, RR 1 Box 368 Troy, PA 16947.
