Brogue—Erma V. (Craley) Grothe, 82, died Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at her residence in Chanceford Towpship. She was the wife of the late Wilmar L. Grothe. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM, Monday, January 19, 2015 at Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Church, 250 Bethlehem Church Rd, Red Lion with her pastor, the Rev. Thomas Osenbach officiating. Viewings will be held from 6-8 PM, Sunday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion and from 10-11 AM, Monday at the church. Burial will be held in Bethlehem Stonepile Cemetery. Born May 16, 1932 in Chanceford Township, she was a daughter of the late Walter M. and Helen L. (Oberlander) Craley. She was employed as a seamstress with various local area companies. Following her retirement as a seamstress she worked at the Brown Cow and AutoKraft Box Company. A member of Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Church where she helped out in the children’s nursery on Sunday, she was also a member of the Farm Women’s Group 29-Airville. Mrs. Grothe is survived by one son, Terry L. Grothe and his wife, Glenda of Brogue; four grandchildren, Charla Snelbaker and husband, Terry of Brogue, Becky Gillespie and husband, Chad of Felton, Ronald Grothe and wife, Sabrina of Windsor and Kayla Bell and fiancé Will of Brogue; seven great grandchildren, Colbi, Tanner, Bocephus, Damien, Angelica, William and Gabriel; one brother, Emerson Craley and wife, Catherine of New Bridgeville; one sister, Elaine Klinedinst of York and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Larry L. Grothe and two sisters, Ethel Flaharty and Fern Craley. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Church, Children’s Ministry, 250 Bethlehem Church Rd, Red Lion, PA 17356 or York Cancer Center, 25 Monument Rd, Suite 194, York, PA 17403. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of White Rose Hospice.
