Emma M. (Harlacker) Schmidt

Emma M. (Harlacker) Schmidt, 97, died on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Country Meadows Trolley Rd. She was the wife of the late William E. Schmidt who died in 1998. Services for Mrs. Schmidt will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born on September 6, 1923 in York, she was a daughter of the late George M. and Helena M. (Kleinfelter) Harlacker. She was a 1944 graduate of York High School. Emma worked as a secretary at Anstadt Printing until her retirement in 1986. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of Grace United Church of Christ and the YMCA Aquatics Club. Emma was an active mother and grandmother. She attended every swim meet for her children and grandchildren, always cheering in the stands. Emma loved traveling to the beach twice a year at Pepper’s Cottage for over 25 years, gardening, flowers, playing bridge with friends and was a beer enthusiast. Mrs. Schmidt is survived by four sons, William E. Schmidt, Jr. and his wife Gail, Gregory R. Schmidt and his wife, Jeannette, Stephen M. Schmidt and his wife, Hannah and Jeffrey R. Schmidt and his wife, Mary Jane; daughter, Sandra J. Williams and her husband, Peter; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Francis Spangler; and two nieces Nancy and Karen.
