Emery William Grove, Sr.

DALLASTOWN- Emery W. Grove, Sr., 77, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Manor Care in Dallastown. He was the loving husband of Katie A. (Bair) Grove, to whom he was married to for 53 years. A Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2009 at Zion United Methodist Church in Red Lion with the Reverend James C. House officiating. Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m. at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion on Sunday, October 25, 2009 and 1-2 p.m. on Monday at the church. Burial will be at Zion United Methodist Cemetery with full military detail provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Grove was born near Felton on June 16, 1932, a son of the late Gordon and Beatrice (Reichard) Grove. Mr. Grove served our county for one year in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Grove was a member of Zion United Methodist church in Red Lion for 64 years. Mr. Grove worked as a plasterer for William G Koller & Son Plastering until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed woodworking, specifically furniture making. He was a member of the Fox Trot Hunting Club. Along with his wife Katie, Mr. Grove is survived by four sons, Emery Jr. and his wife Sue, Carl and his wife Ann, Mark, Myron "Joe" and his wife Debbie; two daughters, Deb Messersmith and her husband John and Dawn Albright and her husband Robert; 13 grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Clair and his wife Dene; two sisters, Edna Ruppert and her husband Dale and Nancy Kornbau and her husband Thomas. He was preceded in death by an identical twin brother, Earnest Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Memorial and Honor Program, 3544 N.
